Pakistan’s imports of completely built-up (CBU) buses, trucks, and other heavy vehicles surged to a record $262.4 million during the first 11 months of FY2025-26, marking the highest level ever recorded, according to State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) data compiled by Topline Research.

The import bill soared by 354 percent from $57.8 million in the corresponding period of last fiscal year, while also eclipsing the previous record of $177.1 million set in 11MFY22.

The sharp increase reflects a strong rebound in demand for commercial vehicles as transport companies, logistics operators, and businesses continue to expand their fleets to support growing economic activity.

Analysts said the surge was driven by a combination of government incentives, improving business sentiment, and lower interest rates, which have made financing commercial vehicles significantly more affordable.

The record-breaking import figures also signal renewed confidence in Pakistan’s transport and logistics industry after years of subdued investment caused by import restrictions, high borrowing costs, and broader economic challenges.

With commercial activity gaining momentum, businesses appear to be accelerating fleet expansion and modernization, fueling unprecedented demand for imported heavy vehicles.
