Pakistan’s foreign exchange reserves recorded a modest increase during the week ended August 7, 2026, with the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) adding $14 million to its holdings.
According to data released by the central bank on Thursday, SBP-held foreign exchange reserves rose to $17.057 billion, up from $17.043 billion a week earlier.
The country’s total liquid foreign exchange reserves also increased to $22.498 billion, compared to $22.484 billion in the previous week.
Commercial banks held $5.441 billion in foreign exchange reserves, accounting for the remaining share of the country’s total liquid reserves.
The SBP said its reserves increased by $14 million during the week ended August 7, helping strengthen Pakistan’s external liquidity position and foreign exchange buffer.
The central bank stated: “During the week ended on August 7, 2026, SBP’s foreign exchange reserves increased by US$14 million to US$17.057 billion.”
