The Pakistani rupee (PKR) extended its winning streak against the US dollar to 219 consecutive days on Thursday, closing at 277.65 in the interbank market.

The rupee gained around one paisa against the dollar during the day, compared with Wednesday’s close of 277.66.

The PKR has remained on an upward trend against the US dollar since December 25, 2025, marking more than seven months of consecutive gains.

Rupee Performance Against Major Currencies

The rupee remained broadly stable against the UAE dirham and Saudi riyal.

It strengthened by 88 paisas against the British pound and 37 paisas against the euro.

The PKR also gained 31 paisas against the Australian dollar and 29 paisas against the Canadian dollar.

Against the Malaysian ringgit and Chinese yuan, the rupee recorded marginal gains of around one paisa and less than one paisa, respectively.

The continued appreciation against the US dollar extends the rupee’s longest sustained winning streak in recent years.
