The federal and provincial governments are set to hold fresh negotiations with goods transporters in Karachi on Thursday as the nationwide transport strike enters its sixth consecutive day.

Transporters have made it clear they will not call off the strike until their demands are formally accepted and implemented through concrete government action.

The government’s delegation will include Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Muhammad Junaid Anwar, Sindh Senior Minister and Transport Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon, the Sindh Chief Secretary, Karachi Commissioner, Chairman of the Karachi Port Trust (KPT), Chairman of Port Qasim Authority (PQA), and other senior officials.

All Pakistan Goods Transport Owners Association President Muhammad Owais Chaudhry Advocate said transporters across the country continued their peaceful protest in support of their demands.

He said the association was prepared to engage in meaningful and result-oriented dialogue with the government to resolve the dispute. However, he stressed that verbal assurances alone would not be enough to end the strike.

According to Chaudhry, the transporters’ demands are lawful and aimed at protecting the country’s economic interests. He reiterated that the nationwide wheel-jam strike will continue until the government takes practical steps to address the issues raised by the transport community.

He expressed optimism that Thursday’s meeting in Karachi would produce tangible progress but reaffirmed that transporters would maintain the strike until a concrete agreement is reached.
