Pakistan’s foreign exchange reserves recorded a marginal increase during the week ended July 31, 2026, with the State Bank of Pakistan’s (SBP) holdings rising by just $13.1 million.
According to data released by the central bank, SBP-held foreign exchange reserves increased to $17.043 billion from $17.030 billion a week earlier.
The country’s total liquid foreign exchange reserves stood at $22.475 billion as of July 31, including reserves held by both the central bank and commercial banks.
Commercial banks accounted for $5.432 billion of the total reserves, while the remaining $17.043 billion was held by the SBP.
According to Arif Habib Limited (AHL), the current foreign exchange reserves provide import coverage of around 2.51 months.
The latest increase comes after Pakistan’s reserves remained under pressure due to external payments, debt servicing obligations and changes in foreign exchange inflows.
