Hamza Farooq, a former Vice President at Goldman Sachs, has been appointed the first Chairman of the Pakistan Climate Change Authority for a two-year term.

The appointment was approved by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, following which the Establishment Division issued an official notification.

Farooq brings an international academic and corporate background to the newly established position. He studied at Oxford University, Stanford University and William & Mary.

Before moving into the climate sector, he worked as a Vice President at Goldman Sachs. He has also founded and operated two startups.

As the first chairman of the Pakistan Climate Change Authority, Farooq will lead the body responsible for coordinating the country’s climate change-related efforts.
