US President Donald Trump has offered UFC chief executive Dana White the position of White House press secretary, proposing an unusual addition to his administration’s communications team.
Trump announced the offer in a post on Truth Social on Saturday, November 7, describing White as a fighter and warrior and publicly urging him to accept the position.
The president also suggested that White could bring several prominent mixed martial arts fighters into the proposed team, including Islam Makhachev, Khabib Nurmagomedov, Justin Gaethje, Daniel Cormier, Amanda Nunes and Kayla Harrison.
Trump said the fighters could help defend his administration against political opponents, referring to the “Lunatic Left” in his post.
White has maintained a close relationship with Trump for years and played a prominent role in connecting the president with the UFC world.
The two have also worked together on major events, including a UFC event held at the White House.
The unusual proposal attracted attention because it could bring one of the biggest names in mixed martial arts into one of Washington’s most visible communications positions.
However, it remains unclear whether White will accept Trump’s offer or whether the proposal will result in an actual appointment.
