The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has launched action against 377 unauthorized structures along Islamabad Expressway East, while the roughly 1,000 containers deployed across the capital for protest security are not part of the current enforcement drive.

The operation is focused on illegal construction, unauthorized commercial activity and violations of approved land use. It is being conducted by the CDA’s Building Control Section with support from the Enforcement Directorate and district administration.

Of the 377 structures identified for action, 281 are commercial properties. More than 140 structures have already been proceeded against along the route from Soan Dehati through Iqbal Town, Khanna Pull and Koral Bridge toward Koral and Gulberg Greens.

The CDA estimates that around Rs. 3 billion can be recovered through land-conversion charges and penalties linked to unauthorized construction, setback violations, floor area ratio breaches and excess covered area.

The authority said it had recovered about Rs. 720 million during an earlier enforcement campaign. A further Rs. 100 million has been recovered during the current operation.

The CDA has also marked 124 structures between Soan and Khanna Pull for demolition, with the removal process already underway.

The authority said properties sealed during the operation will remain closed until the violations are addressed and the required legal and regularization procedures are completed with approval from the competent authority.

The enforcement action comes as around 1,000 containers remain deployed for protest-related security arrangements in Islamabad, according to reports, highlighting that the current CDA drive is targeting construction and land-use violations rather than those road blockades.
