The government has issued an urgent advisory warning of a critical security vulnerability affecting widely used enterprise systems around the world, including those deployed by organizations in Pakistan.

According to the advisory, the flaw allows potential attackers to remotely exploit affected systems due to improper access controls. The vulnerability, tracked as CVE-2026-35616, impacts specific versions of enterprise security software and could enable unauthorized access, system manipulation, and full takeover of affected servers if successfully exploited.

Security officials have warned that the issue is already being actively exploited, significantly increasing the threat level for organizations that have not yet applied security updates or are running exposed systems. Once compromised, attackers may be able to alter security settings, deploy malicious configurations, and move deeper into internal networks, putting sensitive infrastructure at serious risk.

The advisory stresses that immediate action is required. Organizations are strongly urged to install the latest security patches, restrict access to management interfaces, and upgrade to the most recent secure version to prevent exploitation. Authorities have emphasized that delay in response could lead to severe security breaches.

The impact of the vulnerability includes potential system compromise, data exposure, unauthorized control of devices, and execution of malicious code. These risks are considered especially serious for government institutions and private organizations handling sensitive information.

Officials have reiterated that compliance with the advisory is critical to protecting digital infrastructure, and further technical guidance has been issued to assist system administrators in securing their networks.
