The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Saturday said that Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir completed an official visit to Iran, where he held a series of high-level meetings focused on advancing regional peace and mediation efforts.

The visit took place amid ongoing tensions in the region following the ceasefire announced on April 8, 2026.

During his stay in Tehran, the Field Marshal met Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, and Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni.

According to ISPR, the discussions centered on accelerating diplomatic consultations aimed at reducing tensions, strengthening regional stability, and moving negotiations toward a comprehensive agreement.

The military’s media wing stated that the meetings were conducted in a constructive atmosphere and helped advance the broader mediation process. It added that negotiations held over the past 24 hours produced encouraging developments toward achieving a final understanding.

Iranian officials also acknowledged Pakistan’s positive and constructive contribution in facilitating dialogue and promoting peaceful solutions to regional disputes.

Upon his arrival in Iran, Field Marshal Asim Munir was welcomed by Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni along with senior Iranian civil and military officials.
