The Pakistani rupee (PKR) extended its winning streak against the US dollar for a 218th consecutive trading day on Wednesday, continuing its steady appreciation since late December 2025.

According to the State Bank of Pakistan’s exchange rate data, the local currency settled at Rs. 277.6605 against the US dollar, improving by 1.1 paisas from Tuesday’s closing rate of Rs. 277.6715.

The rupee has remained on an uninterrupted upward trajectory against the greenback since December 25, 2025.

Other Currencies

The local currency was largely unchanged against Gulf currencies, gaining 0.5 paisa against the UAE Dirham (AED), while remaining virtually flat against the Saudi Riyal (SAR) with a marginal movement of 0.2 paisa.

However, the rupee weakened against several major global currencies. It declined by 27.67 paisas against the British Pound (GBP), 11.23 paisas against the Euro (EUR), 20.05 paisas against the Australian Dollar (AUD), and 11.37 paisas against the Canadian Dollar (CAD).

The local currency also slipped 6.37 paisas against the Malaysian Ringgit (MYR) and 0.51 paisa against the Chinese Yuan (CNY).
