Pakistan has started issuing electronic passports (e-passports) to its citizens living in the United Arab Emirates from October 23, 2026, through the Embassy of Pakistan in Abu Dhabi and the Consulate General in Dubai.

A standard 36-page passport with five-year validity costs AED 145 under normal processing, while urgent processing costs AED 235. The highest fee is AED 2,540 for an urgent 10-year, 72-page passport being replaced after a second loss. At an exchange rate of AED 1 to Rs. 76, this amounts to approximately Rs. 193,040.

All new passport applications submitted through the two Pakistani diplomatic missions are now being processed under the e-passport system.

Existing machine-readable Pakistani passports will remain valid until their expiry dates. Applicants have been advised to apply for renewal only when less than six months of validity remains on their current passports.

Applicants must provide both their first and last names to qualify for an e-passport.
