The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has urged Pakistanis to protect their national identity cards and personal documents, warning that careless sharing of sensitive information can expose them to online fraud and other illegal activities.
The agency advised people to share copies of their Computerized National Identity Cards (CNICs) only with credible and trusted individuals or organisations.
It warned that personal details shared with unverified people or websites could be misused for fraudulent purposes. Information that people routinely provide in everyday situations may also expose them to scams and other forms of cybercrime.
What to Do if Someone Misuses Your Personal Data
The NCCIA has advised people who discover that their personal information has been misused to preserve relevant evidence and report the matter to the appropriate authorities.
The agency urged the public to exercise caution when sharing sensitive documents, stressing that protecting personal information is an important part of online security.
Its warning serves as a reminder to think carefully before handing over CNIC copies or other personal details, particularly when the recipient cannot be trusted.
