Pakistan achieved a new record in fisheries exports by selling nearly $570 million worth of fish and seafood products in Fiscal Year 2026 (FY26).

The Marine Fisheries Department said Pakistani seafood products are once again reaching stores in the European Union (EU), helping rebuild confidence in the country’s exports.

The department said Pakistan has significant potential to increase its fisheries export earnings to $3 billion if it shifts from exporting raw seafood to processed and value-added products.

It stressed the need to develop more value-added fisheries products to improve export revenues and make better use of the country’s marine resources.

Pakistan’s access to the European seafood market has also improved after years of restrictions. The EU imposed a complete ban on imports of Pakistani fisheries products in 2007, while four Pakistani companies were allowed limited access in 2013.

The department said years of efforts have helped restore the confidence of European brands in Pakistani fisheries products, creating opportunities for further growth in exports.
