Authorities have imposed a complete restriction on the entry of vehicles carrying livestock onto motorways across the country.
A Central Region spokesperson said the decision has been taken to enhance public safety and ensure smooth traffic flow during the Eidul Adha period. He noted that overloaded and mechanically unfit vehicles have previously been linked to serious accidents on motorways.
Under the new arrangement, vehicles transporting animals will not be allowed to enter motorways and will instead be directed toward alternative routes deemed safer for such traffic.
The spokesperson added that Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police have been instructed to set up checkpoints at motorway entry points to enforce the restriction.
Action has also been ordered against illegal parking near cattle markets and motorway interchanges to prevent congestion and ensure free movement of traffic.
Authorities further stated that strict enforcement will be carried out against violations of traffic rules and loading standards. The measure, they said, is aimed at reducing the risk of accidents and maintaining uninterrupted traffic flow during the Eid holidays.
