Google has introduced a new YouTube control that allows parents in Pakistan to decide how much time their children can spend watching Shorts, including setting the limit to zero.
The feature is being introduced as part of Google’s Digital Pasban online safety initiative in Pakistan, which aims to help families manage children’s digital activities and use the internet more safely.
Parents can also use YouTube’s age-appropriate content settings, along with features such as Take a Break and Bedtime reminders, to help manage children’s viewing habits.
The new Shorts setting gives parents more control over short-form videos, allowing them to restrict or completely disable Shorts when children need to concentrate on school, homework or other activities.
Google is also highlighting Family Link, which enables parents to set screen-time limits, approve or restrict apps, manage content and access device location features.
These controls are part of Google’s wider push to improve digital safety and literacy among Pakistani families.
