Islamabad is set to get a major urban recreational facility as a 1,000-acre public park will be developed at the foothills of the Margalla Hills. The decision was taken in a meeting chaired by Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi at the Capital Development Authority (CDA) headquarters.
The meeting reviewed both ongoing and planned development initiatives aimed at transforming Islamabad into a modern capital equipped with international-standard infrastructure and public amenities.
According to Minister Naqvi, the objective is to enhance the city’s livability while expanding recreational and tourism opportunities for residents and visitors.
As part of the broader development strategy, plans also include the construction of a five-star hotel in partnership with international investors through a joint venture model. This initiative is intended to boost tourism and upgrade hospitality infrastructure in the capital.
Separately, discussions were held on an additional five-star hotel project being developed in collaboration with the Employees’ Old-Age Benefits Institution (EOBI). The minister directed officials to prepare a new hotel investment policy offering tax incentives, including zero-tax facilities, to attract domestic and foreign investors.
To strengthen urban planning and governance, the Interior Minister also ordered a comprehensive land and property survey of Islamabad in coordination with the Survey of Pakistan. The move aims to improve asset management and planning efficiency.
In addition, he instructed the formation of a dedicated marketing team to support upcoming property and development auctions, ensuring stronger investor participation.
The meeting further decided to establish a Capital Emergency Services control room within the Safe City project, enhancing emergency response coordination.
CDA Chairman Sohail Ashraf briefed participants on the progress of ongoing development projects across the capital.
