Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) is in the process of securing final regulatory approvals for the merger of Ufone and Telenor Pakistan.
Following completion of the merger, the combined entity will continue operations under the Ufone brand, while the Telenor brand will gradually be discontinued, according to PTCL President and CEO Hatim Bamatraf.
The merged company will serve approximately 73 million customers, primarily prepaid 4G users, and is expected to operate one of the largest telecom infrastructure networks in Pakistan.
Officials indicated that full operational integration will be completed first, after which the phased retirement of the Telenor brand will begin. This final stage of the merger process is expected to take several months.
Once completed, Telenor Pakistan will cease to exist as an independent brand, marking the final step in the consolidation.
Further updates are expected as the integration progresses.
