The Competition Commission of Pakistan (CCP) and the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) have agreed to expand cooperation to tackle bid rigging, collusive practices and corruption while improving transparency and procurement standards.
The two institutions signed an addendum to their Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at NAB Headquarters in Islamabad on September 16, 2026.
CCP Chairman Farid Ahmad Tarar and NAB Chairman Lt. Gen. (R) Nazir Ahmed attended the signing ceremony along with senior officials from both organizations.
The original MoU, signed in May 2025, provided a framework for cooperation on issues including bid rigging, collusive tendering, information sharing and technical assistance.
Under the new agreement, the CCP and NAB will use the Pakistan Anti Corruption Academy (PACA) to arrange joint training programs, workshops, seminars, conferences and awareness sessions.
The programs will cover competition law, anti-corruption measures, procurement integrity and economic governance.
The agreement will also facilitate the exchange of experts, investigators, economists, prosecutors, researchers and other professionals between the two institutions.
Officials from the CCP and NAB will receive opportunities for professional development and knowledge sharing to strengthen their investigative, analytical and enforcement capabilities.
NAB Chairman Lt. Gen. (R) Nazir Ahmed said stronger coordination and capacity building were important for improving institutional performance. He said cooperation through PACA would help develop specialized skills and promote transparency, integrity and good governance.
CCP Chairman Farid Ahmad Tarar said competition enforcement and anti-corruption efforts overlap in areas such as public procurement, where collusion can restrict competition and increase costs.
He said better coordination, information sharing and the exchange of expertise would support fair competition and more effective enforcement.
The two institutions also agreed to increase cooperation in sharing information and expertise related to cartelization and other anti-competitive practices.
Both sides will work within their respective legal mandates to support economic efficiency, fair business practices and consumer protection.
