The Pakistani rupee strengthened against six major foreign currencies on Wednesday, including the US dollar, British pound and Canadian dollar.

According to exchange rate data, the dollar fell to 277.2714 rupees on September 16 from 277.3022 a day earlier, while the pound declined to 373.5262 from 373.6509.

The Canadian dollar recorded the biggest drop among the currencies that weakened against the rupee, falling to 198.9820 from 199.4191.

The Malaysian ringgit slipped to 67.8424 from 67.9371, while the UAE dirham eased to 75.4881 from 75.4975. The Saudi riyal also declined marginally to 73.8190 from 73.8232.

The rupee, however, weakened against the euro, Australian dollar and Chinese yuan.

The euro rose to 320.1237 from 319.8265, while the Australian dollar increased to 197.6113 from 197.5778. The Chinese yuan also moved up to 41.3443 from 41.3098.
