The government has approved restrictions on importing smart glasses equipped with cameras, following a decision by the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) on Wednesday.

The committee, chaired by Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, also called on provincial governments and the Islamabad Capital Territory to introduce workplace rules governing the use of these devices.

Under the decision, the proposed restrictions will apply to camera-enabled smart glasses, while workplace regulations will establish rules for their use in professional settings.

The Finance Division did not disclose the specific import conditions or provide a timeline for implementing the restrictions.
