Federal Petroleum Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik has called for stronger fuel reserves and expanded storage capacity to help Pakistan cope with disruptions in global energy markets.

During a visit to Pakistan State Oil (PSO) headquarters in Karachi on Friday, Malik reviewed the company’s operations and its plans to strengthen the country’s fuel supply system.

The discussions covered fuel imports, diversification of suppliers, storage capacity and measures to keep domestic supplies stable amid volatile international prices and disruptions to major shipping routes.

Malik said the government would support efforts to improve Pakistan’s energy security, with greater storage capacity and more resilient supply chains among the key priorities.

He also called for faster adoption of digital and automated systems across the sector and improvements in customer services.

The minister praised PSO for maintaining fuel supplies across the country despite international geopolitical and supply challenges.

Malik said government and industry stakeholders need to work together to build a more modern and reliable energy sector focused on economic stability and consumer interests.
