Former Islamabad Police chief Ali Nasir Rizvi has been appointed Director General (DG) of the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA), sources told RBN.

Rizvi previously served as Inspector General of Islamabad Police, where he was responsible for overseeing law enforcement, security and crime-control operations in the federal capital.

He has now been moved to the NCCIA as the government reshuffles senior police leadership. Captain (Retd.) Sohail Chaudhry has been appointed as the new Islamabad Police chief in his place.

The NCCIA is the country’s specialized agency for investigating cybercrime and digital offences. It handles cases involving online fraud, cyber harassment, unauthorized access to computer systems, data-related offences and other crimes committed through digital platforms.

The agency also conducts technical investigations and digital forensics to support cybercrime cases and works through its field offices to process complaints and investigate offences.

Rizvi’s appointment comes as cybercrime continues to expand in scale and complexity, increasing the need for stronger investigation and enforcement capabilities in the digital space.
