Captain (Retd) Muhammad Sohail Chaudhry has been appointed as the new Inspector General (IG) of Islamabad Police, replacing Ali Nasir Rizvi, who has been transferred to head the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA).

Chaudhry is a BS-20 officer of the Police Service of Pakistan (PSP) and previously served as a captain in the Pakistan Army. He has held several senior policing positions, particularly in Punjab.

His key assignments include Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Lahore, City Police Officer (CPO) Faisalabad, DIG Operations Lahore, DIG Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) Punjab and Regional Police Officer (RPO) Multan.

Chaudhry has developed a reputation as a field-oriented officer, with much of his career focused on crime control, counterterrorism and operational policing. His tenure in senior Lahore and Punjab postings also brought him into several high-profile law-and-order assignments.

He now takes charge of Islamabad Police as the capital undergoes changes in its policing and security setup. His appointment comes alongside Rizvi’s transfer to the NCCIA as part of the latest reshuffle of senior police officers.
