The Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication has revealed that engineers with specialized skills in Integrated Circuit (IC) Design and Verification can earn around Rs. 150,000 or more per month.

The information was shared with the National Assembly in a written response about government efforts to train young professionals in advanced technology fields.

Under the initiative, 30 engineers, including seven women, received specialized training in IC Design and Verification. The participants were selected from 20 districts across Pakistan.

The programme covered advanced IC design, VLSI verification, System-on-Chip (SoC) architecture and professional design tools used in the semiconductor industry. It also gave trainees practical exposure to chip tapeout and fabrication processes.

The programme was funded by Ignite, the National Technology Fund under the Ministry of IT and Telecom, and implemented by FAST-NUCES.

The ministry said the training has already helped most participants enter the job market. Of the 30 engineers trained, 23 have secured jobs in Pakistan’s semiconductor industry.

The other seven participants chose to continue their education by enrolling in master’s degree programmes.

According to the information provided by Ignite, fresh professionals with IC Design and Verification expertise can earn approximately Rs. 150,000 or more per month.

The initiative is part of efforts to develop specialized engineering talent for Pakistan’s semiconductor industry and create better-paying technology jobs for young graduates.
