The Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) has introduced a new digital onboarding framework aimed at making stock market investment faster and easier.

Under the new framework, investor accounts can be opened within one day, while applications will be decided within two days.

Investors will be able to track their account applications using a tracking ID and check their status digitally. Brokers will also be required to provide written reasons if an account opening application is rejected.

The framework will allow investors who have already been verified to avoid repeating the verification process. It will also enable 24-hour digital onboarding and application processing.

The SECP aims to increase the number of stock market investors to 2.5 million under the new framework, with greater participation from young people identified as a key priority.

SECP Chairman Dr. Kabir Ahmed Sidhu said technology is being used to make stock market investment easier and faster. He added that Pakistan’s capital market has significant potential for growth and investment.
