The government has approved Rs. 27.62 billion in sovereign guarantees to help complete the financing arrangements for the Sialkot (Sambrial)-Kharian Motorway (M-12) project being developed under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) framework.
The approval was granted by the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the Cabinet during a meeting chaired by Finance Minister Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb.
The ECC also approved the rollover of Rs. 6.944 billion in previously issued Operational Viability Gap Funding (VGF). The financial support will assist the project concessionaire in achieving financial close under the updated financing structure for the Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) motorway project.
The Sialkot-Kharian Motorway is being executed through a public-private partnership arrangement, with the government providing financial facilitation to support project implementation.
During the meeting, the ECC also approved a Technical Supplementary Grant for Pakistan Television Corporation (PTVC) for FY2026-27. Under the decision, PTVC will receive Rs. 3.25 billion quarterly to manage essential operational expenses.
The ECC directed the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting to submit a detailed financial sustainability plan for PTVC within two months for further review.
The meeting was attended by federal ministers, senior government officials, and representatives from relevant ministries and regulatory authorities.
