Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) witnessed its biggest-ever monthly surge in investor participation in July, with 25,140 new accounts opened during the month, indicating growing interest in the country’s equity market.
According to data released by the National Clearing Company of Pakistan Limited (NCCPL), Sahulat accounts accounted for the majority of new registrations, with 14,824 accounts, or 59 percent of the total. Meanwhile, 10,287 regular investor accounts, representing 41 percent, were opened during July. The new registrations also included 29 corporate accounts.
Individual investors continued to drive the growth, particularly younger market participants. Excluding corporate accounts, NCCPL issued 25,111 unique investor numbers during the month, with male investors accounting for 84 percent and female investors making up 16 percent.
The 18–30 age group recorded the highest number of new registrations, followed by investors aged 31–45, highlighting increased participation from younger generations, including Gen Z and Millennials.
Punjab recorded the highest number of new investor accounts with 12,917 registrations, followed by Sindh with 8,126. Islamabad added 1,460 new accounts, while Khyber Pakhtunkhwa contributed 1,828.
Balochistan registered 405 new investors, Azad Jammu and Kashmir added 175, Gilgit-Baltistan recorded 91, and overseas Pakistanis opened 138 new accounts during July.
