The Pakistani rupee (PKR) ended Wednesday’s trading session slightly stronger against the US dollar, marking its 140th straight day of gains versus the greenback.

According to interbank market data, the rupee closed at Rs. 278.96 per US dollar, appreciating by one paisa compared to the previous session.

Despite maintaining stability against the dollar, the local currency faced pressure against several other global currencies during the day’s trading.

Performance Against Regional Currencies

The rupee showed mixed movement in Gulf currencies. It strengthened by one paisa against the UAE Dirham (AED), while slipping marginally by one paisa against the Saudi Riyal (SAR).

Losses Against Major Global Currencies

The local unit weakened notably against major international currencies:

  • Lost 82 paisas against the British Pound (GBP)
  • Declined 28 paisas against the Euro (EUR)
  • Dropped Rs. 1.26 against the Australian Dollar (AUD)
  • Shed four paisas versus the Canadian Dollar (CAD)

Meanwhile, the rupee posted a minor gain against the Chinese Yuan (CNY).
