The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has advised parents to take a more active role in protecting children from online risks by monitoring digital activity and promoting safer internet habits.

In a public advisory, the regulator urged families to regularly discuss issues such as cyberbullying, online harassment, and suspicious interactions with children so they can identify threats and report harmful content through proper channels.

PTA highlighted that children should be educated about the risks of sharing personal information online, including locations, photos, and other private details that could compromise their safety.

The authority also recommended that parents use built-in safety tools, including parental controls and age-based content restrictions available on platforms such as TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook, to manage children’s exposure to inappropriate material.

PTA further advised users to avoid saving or sharing sensitive information, including financial and health-related data, on online platforms or shared devices.

The regulator emphasized that stronger family involvement and responsible internet practices are essential as children increasingly spend more time in digital spaces.
