Banks across Pakistan will remain closed for three consecutive days this week, with the weekend — Saturday, November 7 and Sunday, November 8 — followed by a public holiday on Monday, November 9, in observance of Allama Iqbal Day.

The State Bank of Pakistan said it will remain closed on Monday, November 9, 2026, following the federal government’s declaration of a public holiday.

In a circular issued on November 3, the central bank informed the presidents and chief executives of all banks, development finance institutions (DFIs) and microfinance banks (MFBs) that the holiday would apply to November 9. Banking services involving public dealings will remain suspended for the day.

The holiday commemorates the birth anniversary of Allama Muhammad Iqbal, Pakistan’s national poet, who was born on November 9, 1877. Normal banking operations are expected to resume on Tuesday, November 10.
