The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) investor base reached a record 681,965 in October 2026, marking a 56 percent increase compared to the same month last year as more Pakistanis entered the stock market.

According to figures shared by the Finance Ministry on Tuesday, 25,747 new investor accounts were opened during October, the highest monthly addition on record.

The ministry described the growth as a sign of increasing investor participation and a broader shift in Pakistan’s capital markets.

PSX Adds Nearly 219,000 Investors in 10 Months

The PSX attracted 218,894 net new investors between January and October 2026, exceeding the combined additions recorded over the previous four full calendar years.

The Finance Ministry said the stock market had added nearly five years’ worth of new investors in just 10 months.

Younger investors accounted for most of the growth, with Generation Z and Millennials making up 85 percent of new market participants.

The increase highlights the growing interest of younger Pakistanis in stock market investments and financial markets.

The PSX investor base crossed 600,000 in August 2026 before reaching its latest record of 681,965 in October.
