Pakistanis watch approximately 560 million YouTube videos every day, while the platform has around 96 million users in the country, according to Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) Chairman Major General (retd.) Hafeez ur Rehman.
He shared the figures during a meeting of the National Assembly Standing Committee on Information Technology and Telecom on Tuesday while briefing lawmakers on social media usage in Pakistan.
The PTA chairman said YouTube had become one of the country’s most widely used digital platforms, with millions of users accessing video content daily.
He also highlighted Pakistan’s position among the leading countries in YouTube consumption.
The figure of 560 million represents total daily video views, not individual viewers, as users can watch multiple videos throughout the day.
The briefing also covered the use of other major digital platforms in Pakistan, including TikTok and WhatsApp.
According to the PTA chairman, WhatsApp has around 100 million users in Pakistan and handles billions of messages and calls every day.
The discussion came as lawmakers examined the country’s growing reliance on social media and digital communication platforms, while also raising concerns about internet quality and mobile network performance.
