The Punjab Revenue Authority has sealed multiple branches of fast food chain KFC in Lahore over alleged tax non-compliance.
Five KFC outlets in the city were sealed, including branches in DHA EME and DHA Z Block.
The development marks the latest in a series of enforcement actions by tax authorities against food and beverage businesses over alleged irregularities in tax reporting and invoicing.
The latest action comes days after the Punjab Revenue Authority also sealed multiple branches of coffee chain Double Shot in Lahore over alleged misreporting of sales data and violations of electronic invoicing rules.
In an order issued under Section 59A of the Punjab Sales Tax on Services Act, 2012, the PRA said the business had allegedly bypassed the mandatory Electronic Invoice Monitoring System and under-declared taxable sales.
In a separate case in Islamabad, authorities sealed a Red Apple outlet in F-6 Markaz over allegations of issuing unverified sales tax receipts.
According to initial reports, the premises were sealed after concerns were raised over the alleged issuance of non-authenticated or improper tax invoices, prompting intervention by tax enforcement teams.
