The Pakistani rupee (PKR) extended its recovery against the US dollar (USD) for the 182nd consecutive trading day on Thursday, setting another record for the longest continuous appreciation streak.
According to the latest interbank closing rates, the rupee settled at Rs. 278.2615 per US dollar, improving by one paisa from the previous close of Rs. 278.2732.
The currency has now recorded gains against the dollar in every trading session for the past 182 days. If the current pace of appreciation continues, the rupee could strengthen beyond the Rs. 277 per dollar mark within the next two weeks.
Performance Against Other Currencies
The rupee remained almost unchanged against regional Gulf currencies, gaining one paisa each against the Saudi Riyal (SAR) and the UAE Dirham (AED).
It posted stronger gains against several major international currencies, appreciating by:
- Rs. 3.44 against the British Pound (GBP)
- Rs. 3.03 against the Euro (EUR)
- Rs. 1.60 against the Canadian Dollar (CAD)
- Rs. 1.12 against the Australian Dollar (AUD)
- 69 paisas against the Malaysian Ringgit (MYR)
- 5 paisas against the Chinese Yuan (CNY)
