The Pakistan National Cyber Emergency Response Team (PKCERT) has been granted full membership in the Forum of Incident Response and Security Teams (FIRST), marking a significant step in Pakistan’s integration into the global cybersecurity community.
FIRST is an international coalition of cybersecurity teams from government, academic, and private sectors that collaborate to improve coordination in responding to cyber incidents, share threat intelligence, and strengthen digital security worldwide. With its full membership, PKCERT will now take part in global incident response cooperation, technical training programs, and joint cybersecurity exercises.
In parallel, PKCERT has also secured operational membership in the Asia Pacific Computer Emergency Response Team (APCERT), expanding Pakistan’s engagement in regional cyber defense collaboration.
These developments reflect the growing maturity of Pakistan’s national cybersecurity capabilities and its alignment with international standards. The Ministry of IT and Telecom has supported efforts to strengthen institutional readiness and enhance cooperation with global cyber response networks.
International partners, including MyCERT, EG-CERT, and APCERT members, contributed to PKCERT’s successful inclusion. The memberships are expected to improve Pakistan’s ability to detect, respond to, and mitigate evolving cyber threats through coordinated global support.
