The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has directed the newly merged Ufone-Telenor operator to provide comprehensive details of its legal, financial, administrative, and operational framework, sources told RBN, while stating that any new brand name, logo, or marketing campaign will require prior regulatory approval before it can be introduced.

The instructions were issued through a formal notice to Pak Telecom Mobile Limited (PTML), the company operating Ufone after its legal merger with Telenor Pakistan.

According to official documents seen by RBN, the PTA has requested all records related to the merged company’s corporate structure, including approvals obtained under relevant laws and supporting documentation. Officials said the regulator had previously instructed PTML to notify the authority immediately after the legal merger was completed so that post-merger arrangements could be examined for regulatory compliance.

Officials added that obtaining the PTA’s approval before launching any new brand identity, logo, or promotional campaign is a mandatory legal requirement. They said the move is aimed at ensuring the merged operator complies with Pakistan’s telecom laws and licensing conditions.

Following the legal amalgamation of Telenor Pakistan into Pak Telecom Mobile Limited (PTML), the company has approached both the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) and the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) to secure approval for a new corporate identity. Under its post-merger integration plan, PTML intends to adopt the global “e&” brand, which would gradually replace the existing Ufone and Telenor consumer brands once all required regulatory approvals are obtained.
