Rehmat Ali Hasnie’s tenure as President and Chief Executive Officer of the National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) ended on August 21, 2026, following a final two-week extension granted by the federal government earlier this month.
NBP informed the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) on Friday that Hasnie’s term had expired effective August 21. The disclosure was made through a letter signed by Acting Company Secretary Mehnaz Salar.
The development comes as the government searches for a new President and CEO to lead the state-owned bank.
The federal government had extended Hasnie’s tenure for two weeks on August 6, with the extension taking effect from August 7. The extension was valid for two weeks or until a new President and CEO took charge, whichever occurred earlier.
Hasnie was appointed President of NBP in August 2023 after serving as Acting President since May 2022. He joined NBP in 2010 and previously headed the bank’s investment banking, corporate banking and priority sector lending businesses.
