The Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI) has issued a final notice to the Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO), demanding payment of more than Rs. 1.5 billion in unpaid property taxes.
The outstanding dues relate to IESCO-owned properties and open spaces across Islamabad, according to MCI officials.
The civic authority said the amount had remained unpaid despite multiple reminders and notices sent to the electricity distribution company.
Through the latest notice, the MCI has directed IESCO to settle its outstanding tax liabilities within the specified deadline. The corporation has warned that further action may follow if the company fails to comply.
A Deputy Director of the MCI said the authority had repeatedly asked IESCO to clear the dues but had not received the required payment.
He added that the final notice provides the company with one last opportunity to pay the outstanding amount before the corporation proceeds with further recovery measures.
