The federal government has reduced petrol and high-speed diesel (HSD) prices for the next 24 hours, according to a notification issued on Thursday.
Petrol has become cheaper by Rs. 9.41 per litre, bringing its new price to Rs. 352.59 per litre. The price of high-speed diesel has been reduced by Rs. 5.56 to Rs. 382.25 per litre.
This marks the fourth consecutive major reduction in fuel prices since the government shifted to a revised fuel price determination mechanism.
The latest cut follows Wednesday’s reduction, when petrol prices were lowered by Rs. 7.06 per litre to Rs. 362, while diesel prices fell by Rs. 3.71 to Rs. 387.81 per litre.
Fuel Prices Continue to Decline
The latest reduction extends a series of daily fuel price adjustments that began on July 20.
Petrol prices have fallen from Rs. 362 per litre on Tuesday, November 3, to Rs. 352.59 on Thursday, November 5. This represents a reduction of Rs. 16.47 per litre in just two days.
Diesel prices have also declined from Rs. 391.52 to Rs. 382.25 per litre over the same period, a decrease of Rs. 9.27.
However, fuel prices remain significantly higher than their levels before daily pricing adjustments began.
On July 17, petrol was priced at Rs. 310.71 per litre, while diesel cost Rs. 323.30 per litre. Compared with those rates, petrol is still Rs. 41.88 more expensive per litre, while diesel costs Rs. 58.95 more.
The latest figures show that despite the recent reductions, both fuels remain above their mid-July prices.
