Iran has reportedly fired missiles at a US Navy vessel in the Strait of Hormuz after it allegedly ignored repeated warnings, according to Iranian media reports cited by Al Jazeera.

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), speaking through the Fars news agency, claimed that two missiles hit a US warship near Jask after it continued moving deeper into the strategic waterway despite being told to halt.

The alleged incident comes shortly after US President Donald Trump announced a naval initiative called “Project Freedom”, aimed at escorting commercial and stranded vessels through the Strait of Hormuz.

However, the US military has firmly rejected Iran’s claim. The US Central Command (CENTCOM) stated that no American naval vessel was attacked in the region.

“US forces are supporting Project Freedom and conducting maritime security operations in the area,” CENTCOM said in a post on X, directly contradicting Iranian reports.

Meanwhile, Iran’s Foreign Ministry said it is reviewing Washington’s response to its latest 14-point proposal intended to ease tensions between the two sides. President Trump had earlier dismissed the proposal, calling it “unacceptable.”
