Federal Minister for Investment Qaiser Ahmed Sheikh has said he has repeatedly considered resigning over widespread corruption and his inability to deliver results despite his efforts.

In an interview with ARY News, Sheikh said corruption existed at every level and bureaucratic hurdles often prevented decisions and recommendations from being implemented.

He said successive governments had failed to improve the lives of ordinary people, while poverty and public hardships had increased.

“I am in pain because I am unable to deliver results, despite making every possible effort,” Sheikh said, adding that he had considered leaving the ministry several times.

The minister also complained about the declining role of the parliamentary party and said he had been unable to meet Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif even for a minute during the past two and a half years.

Sheikh said he was trying to secure a meeting with the prime minister soon, adding: “My effort is to meet the prime minister soon; otherwise, I will leave.”
