Grand Theft Auto 6 (GTA 6) has reportedly recovered around $2 billion in development costs ahead of its release, highlighting the massive demand surrounding the upcoming game.

The claim has emerged as GTA 6 continues to attract record levels of interest ahead of its scheduled launch. A recent report said the game had already earned back the widely cited $2 billion figure associated with its production.

The $2 billion cost itself has not been officially confirmed by Rockstar Games or parent company Take-Two Interactive. Outside estimates have placed the game’s total investment in the range of $1 billion to $2 billion, depending on whether development, marketing and other costs are included.

Separate industry estimates show just how strong demand could be. Sensor Tower has projected that GTA 6 could attract around 25 million preorders, potentially generating about $2 billion in revenue before launch. Take-Two has described preorder demand as unprecedented but has not disclosed an exact figure.

GTA 6 is scheduled to launch on November 19, 2026, with the game expected to become one of the biggest entertainment releases in history.
