The government has approved the lowest bids for the import of the remaining 185,000 metric tons of wheat required by Sindh for Food Year 2026-27.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar directed the Trading Corporation of Pakistan (TCP) to proceed with the procurement during the seventh meeting of the Steering Committee on Wheat Imports.

The meeting reviewed the progress of wheat import arrangements and approved moving ahead with the lowest bids for the remaining quantity.

Dar also directed the governments of Punjab, Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to arrange the required payments and complete tripartite agreements with TCP without delay.

He said the imports would help maintain sufficient wheat supplies and keep prices at reasonable levels, providing relief to consumers.

The meeting was attended by the Minister for National Food Security and Research, Sindh’s food minister, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Tariq Bajwa, Secretary Commerce, Managing Director PASSCO, provincial food secretaries and senior officials from the Ministry of National Food Security and Research and TCP.
