The federal government has ended the free electricity facility for Power Division officers from BS-17 to BS-21 and replaced it with a monthly cash payment based on Rs. 30 per unit.

Under the new system, BS-17 officers will receive Rs. 15,858 against 450 units, while BS-18 officers will get Rs. 21,990 for 600 units.

BS-19 officers will receive Rs. 37,594 instead of the previous 880 free units. BS-20 officers will get Rs. 46,992 against 1,100 units, while BS-21 officers will receive Rs. 55,536.

The Power Division has formally notified the withdrawal of free electricity following a High Court ruling.

The revised system means eligible officers will no longer receive electricity units free of charge. Instead, they will receive a fixed cash payment calculated at Rs. 30 per unit.
