Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb has called on overseas Pakistanis to continue playing a strong role in supporting the country’s economy through remittances and investment channels.

He made these remarks while addressing the Roshan Digital Account and Remittance Roadshow held at the Embassy of Pakistan in Washington, D.C. The event was organized with the collaboration of the State Bank of Pakistan and the Pakistan Banks’ Association and was attended by members of the Pakistani diaspora, business leaders, and community representatives.

In his address, the finance minister praised overseas Pakistanis, describing them as a key source of economic strength for the country, particularly at a time when Pakistan continues to manage external financing pressures and foreign exchange stability concerns.

He reiterated the government’s commitment to the Roshan Digital Account (RDA) initiative, noting that the platform remained fully operational even during periods of severe balance of payments stress, without any restrictions on deposits.

Launched in 2020, the RDA allows non-resident Pakistanis to open bank accounts remotely and invest in a range of financial products in Pakistan, including government-backed certificates, real estate schemes such as Roshan Apna Ghar, and vehicle financing options like Roshan Apni Car.

The minister also highlighted recent improvements to the scheme that have expanded investment opportunities for overseas Pakistanis.

He encouraged the diaspora to make greater use of formal banking channels and continue investing in Pakistan’s economy through the platform. The session concluded with an interactive discussion and Q&A segment involving diaspora participants.
