The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has successfully auctioned Bahria Town’s 527 kanal and 10 marla property in Murree as part of its efforts to recover outstanding tax dues exceeding Rs. 26.46 billion, according to informed sources.

The land, situated at Mauza Kathar Sharqi on Angori Road in Tehsil Murree, District Rawalpindi, was auctioned under the provisions of the Income Tax Ordinance, 2001, following the issuance of a fresh public auction notice by the tax authority.

Sources said the latest auction concluded successfully after an earlier attempt failed to materialize. Unlike the previous auction, in which businessman Musarrat Abbasi had emerged as the highest bidder, this time the winning bid was submitted by a different buyer. The identity of the purchaser has not been officially disclosed, although sources believe the successful bidder is a Pakistani businessman.

FBR had re-advertised the property after the earlier auction process did not result in the completion of the sale. The property was attached against Bahria Town’s outstanding tax liabilities of more than Rs. 26.46 billion.

The successful auction marks a significant breakthrough for the tax authority in one of Pakistan’s largest tax recovery cases involving the sale of immovable property. An official announcement regarding the successful bidder and the final bid amount is expected after the completion of legal and procedural formalities.
