The Pakistani rupee posted mixed performance against major foreign currencies on Tuesday, strengthening slightly against the US dollar while weakening against the British pound in the interbank market.
According to the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), the rupee appreciated by 1.16 paisa against the US dollar, with the exchange rate improving from Rs. 278.1131 to Rs. 278.1015 per dollar.
The local currency, however, lost 90.23 paisa against the British pound, which rose from Rs. 371.1558 to Rs. 372.0581.
The rupee also weakened against the euro, Australian dollar, Malaysian ringgit, and Canadian dollar, while posting modest gains against the Chinese yuan, UAE dirham, and Saudi riyal.
Among the major currencies, the British pound recorded the biggest gain against the rupee during the session, whereas the US dollar registered a marginal decline.
