Children of regular Capital Development Authority (CDA) employees will get major education benefits at the Global System of Integrated Studies (GSIS), reported Associated Press of Pakistan (APP).

The CDA Officers Association and GSIS signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on Thursday to provide education-related concessions to CDA employees’ families.

Under the agreement, GSIS will not charge admission or refundable security fees for eligible students. Their monthly tuition fees will also be reduced by 50 percent.

The children of CDA employees will receive priority for admission and preference on waiting lists over applicants from the general public.

The agreement also allows them to use the institution’s academic and other facilities, participate in co-curricular activities and join student development programs on the same terms as other enrolled students.

CDA Officers Association General Secretary Chaudhary Kamran Bakht said the concessions would help ease education costs for CDA employees. He said the complete waiver of admission and security charges, along with the tuition discount, would provide significant relief to families.

CDA Member Estate Muhammad Zaman Watto welcomed the agreement as an employee welfare initiative.

GSIS Principal and Director Administration Quratulain Ali Rizvi said the institution would work to ensure the agreement delivers its intended benefits.

Labour Union General Secretary Chaudhary Muhammad Yaseen said the initiative could benefit hundreds of CDA employees’ children by giving them access to quality education at reduced costs.
