Minister of State for Finance and Railways Bilal Azhar Kayani visited petrol pumps in Jhelum, Sohawa, and Dina to inspect the implementation of the Prime Minister’s Fuel Relief Scheme.

During his visit, Kayani stopped at registration camps set up at petrol pumps and observed the process of registering citizens, issuing tokens, and sending messages through the 9771 helpline. He also personally registered citizens and helped them complete the process.

The minister then went a step further and personally filled petrol in motorcycles after eligible citizens received their tokens.

Under the scheme, motorcycles, Qingqi rickshaws, and cars with engines up to 800cc are eligible for subsidized fuel. Motorcycle owners receive a Rs. 500 token. If a motorcycle owner purchases Rs. 600 worth of petrol, they pay only Rs. 100 after the subsidy.

Owners of eligible 800cc cars can receive a monthly fuel subsidy of Rs. 3,000.

Kayani said he was visiting Jhelum, Sohawa, and Dina on Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s instructions to monitor the scheme and ensure that deserving citizens receive the relief.

He said the government was taking steps to support people amid higher global oil prices and would continue efforts to provide relief to eligible fuel consumers.

He also directed the administration to establish registration camps outside the District Headquarters Hospital and government colleges to make registration easier for citizens.

The minister said digital monitoring of token issuance and subsidized fuel distribution was continuing. He also asked PML-N workers at the camps to guide citizens through the registration and token process.

Deputy Commissioner Jhelum Mir Raza Ozgun and other administrative and police officials accompanied the minister during the visits. Officials briefed him on implementation of the scheme at 91 petrol pumps across Jhelum.

Kayani is scheduled to visit the district again on Thursday to review the scheme.
